Feilding Neighbourhood Support News

If you missed the opportunity to have you electrical blankets checked at Feilding on the 5th, the Palmerston North Station will be providing a similar service tomorrow.

Better now than wish you had done it later. Don't forget the blankets on the spare bed(s).

It appears like the criminal elements are making the most of the noise created by the inclement weather of recent.

Overnight 13 / 14 May a garage was entered on South Street East where a Suzuki motorcross bike was taken.

Overnight 14 / 15 May Yamaha Kodiak quad bike that had been secured by a chain was removed from a West Street address.

Overnight 14 / 15 May a vehicle parked up a driveway in Dewe Street was entered and two Nitro coloured green scooters were taken. One has black wheels and white inside and the other white wheeles and pink inside.

Overnight 14 / 15 May two vehicles parked at two seperate Kennedy Avenue addresses (both were off the street and right next to the houses) were broken into and had items taken.

If you are aware of any information on any of these incidents, or you have had people on your property and have yet to report the matter to the Police, please do contact them on 323 6363.

Next Saturday, 5 May 2012, between 9 am and midday, the Feilding Fire Service will be offering their annual electrical appliance checks at the Feilding Fire Station on Kimbolton Road. If you have an electric blanket, electric heater or any other appliance that is starting to show its age and causing some concern, then take the item along and get it checked out.

If the appliance is still safe then you will have peace of mind, if it is deemed unsafe then the three pin plug will be cut from the appliance.

We have received a report of an incident "of 3 youths being unlawfully on a property in the Giesen Road area over the weekend, in the hours of darkness. They were confronted and ran off."
To date nothing has been reported to the Police.

In your own best interest, you are encouraged to ensure your property is secure and items not in use be locked away. If you have had someone on your property and have yet to report the matter to the Police, you are again encouraged to contact the station on 323 6363 and let them know the details. Reports like this would influence where patrols would frequent. It is better to stop the youths in the early stages.

We have received a report from a property in South Street East where "two pots complete with a rose and a daphne" bush were taken from the person's front garden pn Saturday Night Sunday morning (10th/11th). As with all thefts of this nature it isn't the monetary value, the plants were gifts when the person's father died.

If you have had a similar experience recently, or your have had people on your property and have yet to report the matter, or you know anything of this incident, please contact the station on 323 6363.

Neighbourhood Support is again combining with the Feilding Community Patrol to be at the Central Districts Field Days to maintain a presence around the public car park areas. In addition to the car park activity, Neighbourhood Support New Zealand will also have a presence with a caravan inside the enclosed displays areas.

Over the past few years the combined patrolling of the public car park areas has significantly reduced the offending and last year we only encountered one incident where a young offender was literally chased out of the Manfield Park area.
With the new fencing arrangement around Manfield we will need to change how we operate especially during the peak hours to ensure a full coverage of the areas so we will be looking for an people during the peak hours.

The caravan display is being organised by the Horowhenua Area Coordinator who is planning on being present throughout the three days. They are also likely to be supported by the other out of town members on the Saturday.

If you are able to offer some time to either undertake the patrolling of the car park areas or would be prepared to help out by manning the Neighbourhood Support display for an hour or two, we would love to hear back from you with the day and time frame that you would be available for. The contact details for those volunteering for the display caravan will be forwarded to the Horowhenua Area Coordinator so she will be able to contact you direct.
