Grant is standing for Council because he believes in an abundant and exciting future for Feilding and the Manawatu.
Grant is well-known as a progressive, forward thinking manager of a National organisation based in Feilding. He has an extensive rural background where he's proven his skills in project and budget management as well as negotiating and liaising with government departments.
He believes Council business should be fair, sustainable and equitable for all. His strong beliefs, common sense approach, and all-embracing experience will give a powerful voice to the best interests of our Manawatu District.
He and his partner are proud to live in Feilding, and he is looking forward to making a bigger contribution to the community.

BACK TO BASICS
I live in Feilding with my husband and our three wonderful daughters. I'm proud of my role as a Mum.
I am the co-ordinator of Feilding Saturday Morning Netball and the President of Feilding Gymnastics. I am honoured to contribute to the community by being part of these groups and to be providing sports opportunities for children in the Manawatu.
I believe the Manawatu is a fantastic place to live. I am concerned, however, that the cost of living here has reached a point that is no longer sustainable.
The role of Council is to provide all of the fundamental services within our region at a rates charge that is affordable. Having an analytical background I believe I hold the skills necessary to progress a sensible and positive path within the Council.

Having grown up in Feilding, I have chosen to settle and raise my family here. I am excited about this town of ours and what we can achieve. This is a great place for families to live and grow. While I have a vested interest in how our council spends our rates, I am also aware of the need to keep the issue of rates in perspective and get the best value for our money.
I have a vision and empathy for the young people of this town. I am passionate about making them a success story and giving them opportunities to fulfil their potential.
A vote for me will help bring a youthful approach to the council team. I am very empathetic and will welcome hearing from people about the choices this council makes on their behalf.

The main role of those elected to Council by the people of Manawatu is that of representation.
It is a concern that no elected members attended the public meeting concerning period buildings of the CBD. This is the single biggest issue facing this as well as other regions in New Zealand. The stress and financial costs could cripple some so it is time Council stood up and showed leadership, gave options and working together progress the CBD into the future.
Parking problems at Makino pool have been highlighted as a concern by older pool users. This as well as mobility impaired residence concerns on paths require attention, as not till we walk in someone's shoes that we can appreciate their point of view.
I was with Toyota NZ for 22 years. The past six years my wife Sue and I have run our own businesses, The Churchyard and Capers Cafes.

Hello, my name is Jeanette Goodwin and I have lived in Feilding for the past 18 months, before that we lived in Rongotea. I am married to Kenneth and have 4 adult children and 7 grandchildren. I am a retired person and have a little more time to give to our community, which has so much to offer us as a town, to the wider community and New Zealand.
I have put myself forward for this bi-election as I feel the people of Feilding need a voice to promote the town the way the ratepayers want. We have a great town and need for it to prosper and grow, but it wont if we dont have any input.
Thank you for the opportunity to be able to put myself forward to the bi-election and if elected will do my utmost to support and fight for all.

I was born and raised in Feilding and continue to live here with my wife and two children. I believe the Feilding and districts most valuable asset is its people. We own two longstanding businesses, employing 16 permanent staff and have several financial investments in the town.
I am standing for council because I am concerned about the financial burden council has placed on rate-payers. The council needs to stay within its core business and away from unnecessary commercial ventures like the Sanson hotel. The earthquake strengthening 10 year timeframe of the Central Business District is totally unachievable to property owners and business people.
I believe the continuing financing of Manfeild Park by council is unfair on ratepayers We need to put aside all wish-lists and consolidate the future of this wonderful town and surrounding districts. Council should be working for the rate payers and respecting their preferences

I have been a Manawatu resident since 1995, moving with my family to enjoy the friendly and affordable lifestyle of Feilding several years ago following my graduation with a PhD from Massey University. I call Feilding home and look forward to many more years in a town offering unparalleled convenience, easy living and great community amenities.
I recognise however that maintenance of this community environment we all enjoy will require careful management and I fully understand the challenges we face. I have solid governance experience, with experience of community organisations at local and national level, and am well practiced in the tasks of everyday organisational management through my current role as Manager of Women’s Refuge. I believe my knowledge and understanding of the social and economic issues facing our community, along with a commitment to consultation and collaboration offers much to the people of Feilding and the work of Council.
